Mark Anson
Mark Anson is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of the Commonfund and Chairman of the Board of Commonfund Capital Inc. and Commonfund Asset Management Company. Previously, he was the President and Chief Investment Officer for the Bass Family Office of Ft. Worth, Texas which was recognized as Family Office of the Year for 2014 & 2015. He was the President and Global Head of Investment Management at Nuveen Investments, a full-service asset management company with over $900 billion in assets under management. Prior to Nuveen, Mark served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer for the British Telecom Pension Scheme (BTPS), the largest institutional investor in the UK with assets of £65 billion. In addition, Mark was the CEO of Hermes Pensions Management in London, a £55 billion asset management company that is wholly owned by the BTPS. Prior to joining BTPS, he served as the Chief Investment Officer of the California Public Employees' Retirement System, the largest institutional investor in the United States with over $300 billion in assets. Mark is currently the Chairman of the Investment Committee for the $65 billion UAW Medical Benefits Trust. He also serves on the Law Board of the Northwestern University School of Law, and the Board of the Toigo Foundation. He is the only person to serve on the Board of Governors for both the CFA Institute and the CAIA Association. He was an inaugural member of the SEC Investor Advisory Committee and the Chairman of the Board for the International Corporate Governance Network. Mark has published over 100 investment articles in professional journals and has won three Best Paper Awards. He is the author of five financial textbooks including the Handbook of Alternative Assets, which is the primary textbook used for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst program. Mark earned a B.A. in Economics and Chemistry from St. Olaf College, a Ph.D. and Masters in Finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, all with honors. He has also received several industry awards in recognition of his leadership in asset management including the Lifetime Achievement Award in Pension Fund Management from Plan Sponsor. Last, Mark has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Certified Public Accountant, and Chartered Global Management Accountant professional degrees, and he is a Member of the Law Bar of New York and Illinois.
Joe Cavatoni
Joe joined the World Gold Council in 2016 and is currently serving as the Chief Market Strategist for North America. Additionally, Joe serves as Principal Executive Officer for the World Gold Trust Services, LLC; President and Principal Executive Officer of WGC USA Asset Management Company, LLC. With over 30years of experience in the financial services industry (including 15 years working in Asia), Joe’s expertise is in global capital markets, exchange traded funds, asset management, trading, and business/platform development. Prior to joining the World Gold Council, Joe acted as Managing Director at BlackRock where he was responsible for iShares Capital Markets–Americas. Prior to BlackRock, he held senior positions at UBS, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America focused on equity derivatives training, securities financing, and lending. Joe’s career is centered around discovery–finding the best way to turn business plans into viable commercial activities and looking for innovative ideas that “break the mold.”
Anthony Giordano
Mayor Eric Adams appointed Anthony “Tony” Giordano to the New York City Public
School Board in January 2023. The School Board appointment includes board membership on the $8 Billion NYC Board of Education Retirement System (BERS), protecting school employee retirement benefits. Leveraging his 25 years of financial services experience, Giordano’s colleagues elected him to the BERS Executive Committee. Following suit, the Board Chair designated Giordano her proxy to the NYC Teachers Retirement System ($103 Billion). Giordano is proud to serve the Mayor, the Chair, all the faculty and staff, but most of all the 1 million students who attend the 1,800 public schools of New York City.
Professionally, Giordano is Founder of Legacy Partners USA, LLC, launched in August of 2014. Legacy Partners is a full-service business development consultancy, advising "best of breed" investment managers, broker dealers, and litigation firms. Prior to launching Legacy Partners, Mr. Giordano had a distinguished twenty-year career on Wall Street, serving as Director of Sales and Marketing at hedge fund of funds, Larch Lane Advisors; Director of Pension Strategies at Credit Suisse USA; was a senior vice president at Bank of New York affiliate, ConvergEx where, for nearly thirteen years, he marketed the firm's transition management and commission recapture services. Prior to Wall Street, Giordano was a City Hall lobbyist with Montalbano Initiatives, representing the interests of several labor unions, corporations, healthcare institutions, and quasi-governmental agencies.
College prepared Giordano well for his current role as an education policy maker and fiduciary. After winning the prestigious Belle Zellar Scholarship, Giordano attended Brooklyn College, City University of New York (CUNY), earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. While at Brooklyn, Giordano was elected to 2 consecutive terms as chairperson of the CUNY University Student Senate (USS), also serving as voting ex-oficio member of the CUNY Board of Trustees, the NYS Higher Education Services Corporation and the CUNY Research Foundation. Under his leadership, Giordano won back funding and restored USS credibility, still thriving 30 years later.
Giordano has remained politically active and socially aware, currently serving as a board member on Bertha Lewis’ action tank, The Black Institute. Giordano directed the Stand & Deliver mentorship program, while serving the board of the tenant advocacy group, Palante Harlem. Giordano is a non-denominational Christian and supporter of the Kentucky-based Sparrow Missions, leading missionary teams comprised of Wall Street professionals to Honduras in 2013 and 2014.
Tony Giordano is m ost importantly a proud father and husband. His two beautiful daughters, Kira and Devin, ages 21 and 19, respectively, attend Penn State and Johns Hopkins universities. Mr. Giordano is overwhelmingly and happily married to New York City immigration attorney and social media influencer, Aizhan “Aya Baltabek” Yerezhepova.
Tyler Grossman
Tyler was elected to the El Paso Firemen & Policemen’s Pension Fund Board of Trustees in 2001 and served until 2006when he took a brief leave of absence to work in Iraq with a private company protecting United States Diplomats to include the US Ambassador of Iraq. Upon his return, he was re-elected to the board as a trustee in 2009 and served as Chairman of the Board until his retirement in October 2015. He served El Paso citizens since1994 as a Police Officer retiring at the rank of Lieutenant.
Upon his retirement he assumed the position of Executive Director of the El Paso Firemen & Policemen’s Pension Fund and added the title of Chief Investment Officer in February 2020.He holds a BS with Distinction in Criminal Justice from Park University and an MBA from the University of Texas-El Paso. Tyler was elected and currently serves on the TEXPERS Board of Directors since March 2012.

Daniel D. Miller
Daniel D. Miller is the Deputy Executive Director for the New York City Board of Education Retirement System (BERS), a $8.4billion pension and 403B plan for the City’s non-pedagogical school employees. Daniel partners with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to implement necessary programs to achieve the objectives, mission, and goals of the agency. He is responsible for the management of the investment program which includes development of policy guidelines, asset allocation strategy, and risk management parameters. Daniel has 17years experience, serving in various senior roles in project management, auditing, benefits administration, and risk management. Under his leadership BERS has beat its 3, 5, and 10-year benchmarks, streamlined services for members, increased membership 25%,and has a funding ratio of 95%. He is a board member of the NY National Association of Securities Professionals Foundation, a member of the US AID Africa Institutional Investors Advisory Council, a member of the Charter Financial Analyst Institute’s Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee, and a member of Accelerate Investors advisory council. Daniel was the recipient of the rising star award from the National Association of Investment Companies and the National Association of Securities Professionals. As a speaker, he has presented at conferences in the US, Asia, and, Africa on topics including capital market development, asset allocation, emerging markets, and Environmental, Social, &Governance impact. Daniel received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Rhode Island (URI),was a four year letterman in football, and a team captain. He received a Bachelor’s of Science in business administration from URI and a Master’s in advanced management and finance from Columbia University.
Chase Rankin
Chase Rankin is the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and Retirement System(OFPRS). An Oklahoma City native, Chase received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Nazarene University and his Masters of Business Administration from Oklahoma Christian University, where he maintained a 4.0 GPA. After becoming a Certified Public Accountant, Chase served 7 years in the role of Controller for OFPRS, where he worked his way to adding the role of legislative liaison to his Controller duties, before being named as the Chief Executive in March of 2018.Chase is proud of the technological advances and superior investment performance the plan has achieved during histenure. When Chase is not diligently working to administer the $3.5Billion pension plan, he loves playing golf and spending time with his wife and their furry four-legged children. Chase, his wife Alicia, and their fur babies reside in Oklahoma City where they are also small business owners.
